Awasi Atacama is by far the best hotel in Atacama if you’re looking for exclusivity, as all of the transportation and excursions on offer are done on a private basis, so what you do and see during your stay is entirely up to you (within reason, of course!). Awasi Atacama is located in the town of San Pedro de Atacama, less than a 5 minute walk from the main ‘Caracoles’ street where you can find souvenirs, ice cream parlours and a sweet main square. Built using the traditional adobe material, it’s in-keeping with the local style but offers a level of luxury and comfort that is hard to come by in such a remote part of the world. It has just 12 rooms, a swimming pool and while it doesn’t have a spa, it does have in-room massages available. The restaurant services delicious Relais & Chateaux meals for all tastes and the wine pairing is also excellently done.Â
