Anantara Golden Triangle

Feature Property Spotlight

Our feature property journals are designed to highlight and showcase our favourite properties from around the world, taking a closer look at some of the magnificent properties that we love to send our clients to.

In our latest feature, we showcase Anantara Golden Triangle, nestled in the lush jungles of  northern Thailand. A luxurious hideaway with views of three countries – Thailand, Laos and Myanmar.

Shades of Chiang Rai

The Anantara journey began in Thailand in 2001, with the opening of its first resort in the chaming town of Hua Hin. Since then, Anantara has rapidly expanded across the globe, offering luxurious escapes in diverse settings, from stunning beaches and private islands to tranquil countryside retreats, vast deserts, cultural heritage sites, and vibrant cosmopolitan cities. Today, Anantara continues to shine, including in Chiang Rai, as part of a portfolio that now spans Asia, the Indian Ocean, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.

Each Anantara property serves as a getaway to the true character of its destination. Guests are invited to hear the best from unique stories, people, and landscapes that make each location unforgettable, both inside and outside the resort.

At Anantara Golden Triangle in Chiang Rai, travellers can surrender to the thrill of adventure. Perched on a mountain sanctuary and surrounded by a 160-acre bamboo forest, the resort’s stunning gardens were designed by the renowned architect Bill Bensley.

It is no wonder they proudly hold the title of “Best Upcountry Resort in Thailand.”

The Elephant in the Room

The Thailand Jungle Bubble experience offers a unique chance to spend a night up close with majestic elephants, all from the comfort of your transparent bubble room. This unforgettable adventure lets you relax in a cosy, cloud-like bed while watching these gentle giants roam freely around you. Share this magical moment with family or friends as you enjoy gourmet meals prepared by a private chef and served by a dedicated butler. As one guest beautifully put it: “Our Jungle Bubble experience was surreal—we dined under the stars on delicious Thai dishes, with three elephants watching over us.”

On select special dates, Anantara hosts celebrations for the rescued elephants that call the resort’s lush jungle home. Guests can witness the elephants feasting on a special buffet of their favorite fruits and vegetables, while live paintings inspired by these gentle creatures add an artistic touch to the festivities.

This luxurious lodge transforms your night in nature into an extraordinary experience, perfectly blending indulgence and adventure in a truly unique setting.

Odyssey of Nature

Anantara Golden Triangle takes pride in supporting local chefs by promoting an exchange of ideas and sharing best practices in sustainability. This initiative not only benefits the environment but also positively impacts the surrounding community.

The resort’s dedication to sustainability is evident in several key ways:

  • Suan Sai Jai, the on-site herb and vegetable garden, supplies the eco-friendly kitchen with a fresh supply of seasonal vegetables, fruits, and free-range eggs, ensuring that much of what is served is grown right at the resort.
  • The resort collaborates closely with local farmers, including the organic farm Million Fields, the non-profit sunflower farm Friends of Thai Daughters, and other smallholders. Together, they meet 100% of the resort’s needs for organic, cage-free egg and seasonal produce.
  • The restaurant proudly sources sustainable Sawanbondin teas from Chiang Rai, fair trade Doi Chang coffee grown by hill tribes in northern Thailand, locally made cheese from Chiang Rai Dairy Cooperative, and organic jams from Chiang Mai Wild Nature Artisans. Each vendor is carefully selected for their exceptional product quality and commitment to sustainability.
  • The chefs also incorporate sustainably sourced, freshly harvested honey in a variety of desserts and dishes across all dining venues. This premium honey is produced by the resort’s own apiary, nestled within the lush jungle. Each drop reflects the richness of nature’s bounty and serves as a symbol of sustainability – honey being the only food that never spoils.
