Venture to the annual Palio di Siena to have a truly immersive experience at the highly anticipated event, only taking place twice a year. Inspired by major medieval horse races as far back as the 6th century, this horse race consists of ten horses ridden bareback, each representing a historic neighbourhood (Contrada) of Siena. Watching from a balcony, away from the large crowds, relish in having clear and unobstructed views of the magnificent horses racing round the sandy track, soaking in the exciting atmosphere. After the race, meet a Palio jockey and enjoy an intimate encounter with one of the powerful horses.
