King Lewanika is one of the most interesting and exciting camps in Sub Saharan Africa. Found in the far west of Zambia in the Liuwa Plains National Park, this is a prime location for anyone looking for a blockbuster experience. Take yourself into one of the most un-spoilt National Parks on the Earth, stay in a unique camp and see nature at its absolute best. Liuwa Plains National Park is a combination of the bustling wetlands of the Okavango Delta and the vast plains of the Serengeti. Due to the extreme weather that changes throughout the year, the safaris are immensely diverse. This National Park has a prestigious reputation for being unspoilt. It is remoteness on a whole different level. In the camp, there are five ‘villas’ and one ‘family villa’. Each villa has panoramic views of the plains, indoor and outside showers, private verandas and vast airy interiors complete with a sitting room. There is limited wifi and absolutely no telephone signal. The camp is a Time + Tide creation and comes with all the style that they generate. The design reflects the golden hue of the plains, contrasting against masculine accents of vintage leather and burnished metal. The verandas are the key to the rooms. From your room you can watch birds during the day and star gaze in the evening. The natural sounds of the bush create a peaceful atmosphere. You literally don’t have to move and the authentic safari experience is directly under your nose.Once you get out onto the plains, depending on what time of year you travel, your expert guide will show you a vast variety of beautiful plants, birds and wildlife. Migrating wildebeest come in from neighbouring Angola to have their babies. With them comes a plethora of predators. Birds flock into the wetlands on their migratory path north and south. You can walk, canoe or take a Land Cruisers out to find the game.Because of the pandemonium of nature, we would describe this camp as a photographer’s paradise. The immensely warm light with dramatic back drops means the most amateur of happy snappers create wonderful images. This is camp is a safari connoisseurs ultimatum.
