Wellness with True Travel

Wellness journeys

Sleep deeply in the mountains, start the day with yoga as the sun rises, spend an afternoon being cared for in an Ayurvedic retreat, or simply disappear somewhere quiet enough to hear yourself think. Wellness can mean many things. For some, it’s a highly personalised programme shaped by diagnostics, nutrition and movement; for others, it’s wild swimming, fresh mountain air and nowhere to be. There are ancient healing traditions, innovative retreats and places where the setting itself does much of the work. We’ll help you find the approach that suits you – and the kind of escape that leaves you feeling genuinely restored.

Aerial view of the swimming pool at Chablé Yucatán, Mexico

Chablé Yucatán

Forty casitas or villas sit deep in the Mayan jungle at Chablé, each with its own private pool, built on the grounds of a 200-year-old hacienda outside Mérida. The spa is built around a natural cenote considered sacred by the Maya, with treatments ending in a traditional temazcal steam ceremony. Chef Jorge Vallejo, of Mexico City's Quintonil, oversees the kitchen at Ixi'im, with much of its produce being taken from the resort's own Mayan gardens.

Joali

Joali Maldives

Seventy-three villas spread across beach and lagoon at JOALI on Raa Atoll, each with its own private infinity pool. Recognised with a Michelin Key, the resort has six restaurants to try, from Japanese teppanyaki to an artisanal chocolate and ice cream shop. Snorkel with manta rays, or try your hand at pottery and drawing at the on-site Art Studio.

Song Saa Private Island

Bought by Australian designer Melita Koulmandas for just $15,000 and a bottle of whisky, this private two-island retreat off Cambodia's coast is often dubbed the country's answer to the Maldives. Think overwater walkways, barefoot dining and Crusoe-chic villas overlooking the ocean. And for those in need of a culture and nature fix, local fishing villages across the bay and in-house conservationist leading excursions around the resort's marine reserve.

Nihi Sumba

Located on the remote island of Sumba, an hour's flight east of Bali, Nihi Sumba offers a more secluded side of Indonesia. Set across 567 hectares overlooking the Indian Ocean, the resort pairs spacious private villas with unforgettable experiences that celebrate the island's way of life, from surfing and sport fishing to waterfall hikes and visits to traditional villages. Between days spent exploring the island and afternoons unwinding at the renowned Nihi Oka Spa Safari, it offers a rare opportunity to experience one of Indonesia's most untouched islands in complete comfort.
