Bali
Bali has long been called the Island of the Gods, and it is easy to see why once you get beyond the beaches, into the terraced rice paddies and volcanic hills of the interior. The coastline still delivers, with some of Asia’s best surfing and diving, but it is the density of temples, ceremonies and daily ritual that gives Bali its particular pull. It remains one of the world’s most popular island destinations for good reason, and it copes with that popularity better than most.
