Leon
Nicaragua’s second city, Leon, acts as something of an intellectual counterpart to Granada, home to a large student population and a noticeably artistic, creative energy. The cobblestone old town and red-tiled colonial houses are attractive in their own right, but it is the city’s vivid street murals, part of a long and proud artistic tradition, that give Leon its real character. It rewards visitors who want history that feels lived rather than curated.
