Samana
SamanĂ¡ occupies a forested peninsula on the Dominican Republic’s Atlantic coast, its beaches backed by dense tropical greenery rather than the built-up strip found further south. The region is best known internationally for the humpback whales that gather in its bay between January and March, one of the more reliable whale-watching seasons in the Caribbean. Outside that window, it remains a quieter, wilder alternative to the country’s more developed coastlines.
