Caribbean Cayes
Cuba’s Caribbean cayes, chiefly Cayo Coco, Cayo Guillermo and Cayo Paredon Grande, sit off the coast of Ciego de Avila province, linked to the mainland by a 17-kilometre causeway across the sea. Between them the cayes hold some 21 kilometres of white sand, much of it backed by resorts built specifically for travellers wanting to disconnect completely. It is the most straightforwardly relaxing part of Cuba, better suited to doing very little than to sightseeing.
