Tayrona National Park
Tayrona National Park protects one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Colombia, where thick jungle runs down to a string of near-perfect Caribbean beaches. The park also holds real cultural weight, home to archaeological sites linked to the indigenous Tayrona people who lived here long before the Spanish arrived. Come for a couple of nights at one of the low-key lodges inside the park boundary and the contrast with Cartagena, just along the coast, could hardly be greater.
