Medellin
Medellin has earned its nickname, the City of Eternal Spring, for a climate that barely varies through the year, held in place by the green Andean valley walls around it. The city’s transformation from its difficult past into one of South America’s most forward-thinking places is well documented, visible now in the cable cars that link poorer hillside neighbourhoods to the centre and in a genuinely thriving restaurant and art scene. It rewards a couple of days more than most itineraries allow.
