Salta
Salta anchors the desert end of northern Argentina’s trio of contrasting regions, its high-altitude valleys and cactus-strewn ravines centred on the Quebrada de Cafayate. Wine grows here too, at altitudes few other regions attempt, producing the aromatic Torrontes grape that Salta has made its own. Combine a few days here with the wetlands of Corrientes and the rainforest at Iguazu, or come purely for the desert scenery and the wine.
