Mendoza
Mendoza is where Argentina’s wine country meets the Andes head on, vineyards planted almost in the shadow of the mountains rather than at a polite distance from them. Malbec is the reason most people come, but the setting is what stays with them, rows of vines running out towards peaks that include Aconcagua, the tallest mountain in the Americas. Spend a few days tasting at family-run bodegas here and the natural beauty of the region does most of the persuading.
