Andalucía
Inland Andalucía in southern Spain is defined by rolling hills and whitewashed towns that appear almost without warning between them, none more famous than Granada with its vast Alhambra palace and centuries of Moorish history. A couple of hours’ drive away is Cordoba, home to an annual Patios competition each May, where residents throw open their courtyards and compete for the honour of the most beautiful. It is a region best explored at an unhurried pace.
