Puglia
Puglia is the region everyone seems to be talking about, and for good reason. Whitewashed trulli with their conical roofs dot the countryside, olive groves run to the coast, and local markets sell some of Italy’s best produce: orecchiette, burrata, fresh seafood. Lecce, known as the Florence of the South, adds Baroque architecture to the mix. It remains more relaxed, and better value, than better-known parts of Italy.
