County Clare
County Clare, on Ireland’s west coast, is where the Cliffs of Moher stretch for eight kilometres between Doolin and Hag’s Head, rising sheer out of the Atlantic in a way photographs never quite capture. Walking the clifftop path gives one view, but seeing the cliffs from a boat below shows their true scale, with seabirds nesting on ledges you would never spot from above. The wider county suits walkers well, with protected parkland and rugged coast running for miles beyond the cliffs themselves.
