Nelson Tasman

Nelson holds the distinction of being the second oldest settled city in New Zealand and the oldest in the South Island, and it gives its name to the wider Nelson Tasman region, often known simply as the Top of the South. Its light, sheltered climate has long drawn artists and growers alike. We think it makes an underrated stop between Marlborough’s vineyards and the west coast, worth more than the quick pass-through most itineraries give it.
