Hội An
Hoi An’s Ancient Town is one of the best-preserved trading ports in Southeast Asia, its UNESCO World Heritage status earned by streets of merchant houses that have barely changed since the town’s heyday as a port for Chinese, Japanese and European traders. At night, silk lanterns light the riverside and the crowds thin noticeably once the day-trippers from Da Nang head back. Come for the architecture, but stay for an evening walk once the light and the heat have both dropped.
