West Coast Beaches
Sri Lanka’s west coast beaches, running from Negombo down through Kalutara and beyond, are the island’s most easily reached stretch of coastline, close enough to Colombo’s airport for a short transfer either side of a longer trip. Palm-backed sand meets calm, swimmable water for much of the year, and a well-established range of hotels makes this an easy base for families or a relaxed final few days. It suits travellers wanting straightforward beach time rather than a wilder stretch of coast.
