South Coast Beaches
Sri Lanka’s south coast beaches, from Bentota down to Tangalle, offer a wilder, more varied stretch of coastline than the west, with surf breaks, whale watching off Mirissa and colonial-era towns like Galle woven in among the resorts. The best conditions run from November to April, when the west coast monsoon has passed, making this the natural pairing for a beach stay at that time of year. Boutique hotels along this stretch tend to be smaller and more individual than further north.
