Danum Valley
Danum Valley protects one of the oldest and most undisturbed lowland rainforests left in South East Asia, a genuine wilderness with no permanent human population inside its boundaries. Canopy walkways here run through trees over 60 metres tall, and night drives regularly turn up civets, slow loris and, with patience, the elusive clouded leopard. It is more demanding to reach than the Kinabatangan and correspondingly quieter, appealing to travellers who want Borneo’s rainforest at its most untouched.
