Mount Fuji
Mount Fuji rises to 3,776 metres, its near-perfect cone visible from Tokyo and Yokohama on a clear day and from stretches of the Pacific coastline beyond. Climbing it during the short official season, usually July and August, is a genuine undertaking rather than a stroll, with most climbers timing their ascent to reach the summit for sunrise. For those who would rather admire than climb, the surrounding Fuji Five Lakes offer some of the most dependable views of the mountain itself.
