Hiroshima & Miyajima
Hiroshima and Miyajima Island pair two very different experiences within a short ferry ride of each other. Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park is a place of quiet reflection, while Miyajima is best known for the floating torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine, which appears to hover above the water at high tide. Wild deer wander the island’s paths, and the short crossing itself, framed by the Seto Inland Sea, is worth savouring rather than rushing through on the way to somewhere else.
