Lombok

Lombok sits just east of Bali but feels like a different Indonesia altogether, quieter and shaped above all by Mount Rinjani, the active volcano that dominates the island’s north. Multi-day treks climb through forest to the rim, where the crater lake sits far below, ringed by steam vents and lush slopes. It is a serious undertaking rather than a casual walk, but for those who make the climb, the payoff is one of the best views in the archipelago.
