Jodhpur
Known across Rajasthan as the Blue City, Jodhpur takes its name from the indigo-washed houses spreading out beneath Mehrangarh Fort. The fort itself sits on a rocky outcrop above the old town, and the walk up through its gates gives a proper sense of the scale Rajasthan’s former rulers built at. From the ramparts, the blue rooftops stretch out in every direction, and it is one of the few views in India that genuinely earns the word iconic.
