Jawai
Jawai, in southern Rajasthan, has built a reputation over the past decade as one of India’s more unusual safari destinations: leopards here den among granite hills and boulders rather than dense forest, living alongside the Rabari shepherding communities who have shared this landscape with them for generations. Sightings are genuinely frequent, often from open vehicles at close range, and the surrounding countryside of temples, lakes and villages adds real texture beyond the leopards themselves. It pairs naturally with Rajasthan’s palace circuit.
