Sihanoukville serves mainly as a launch point now, a practical mainland base for reaching the islands that have made this stretch of Cambodia’s coast so sought after. Koh Rong and Koh Rong Samloem offer hidden coves and dense national park interiors, while smaller private islands such as Song Saa and Krabey Island have turned quiet reefs into some of the country’s most refined beach retreats. The best of this coastline is almost always found offshore, not on the mainland itself.
