Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls, where the Zambezi River plunges over a basalt gorge more than 100 metres deep, ranks among Africa’s most iconic sights, and rightly so. We think the Zimbabwean side gives the better vantage, with walking trails that bring you close enough to feel the spray on your face and, on a clear day, to catch a double rainbow arcing over the gorge. The sheer volume of water crashing over the edge, particularly after the rains, is genuinely hard to prepare for.
