Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park sits in Uganda’s far southwest, overshadowed by its better-known neighbour Bwindi, which holds the larger share of the country’s mountain gorilla population. That relative obscurity is precisely what makes Mgahinga worth knowing about. The park covers the Ugandan side of the Virunga volcanoes, and beyond gorilla tracking there is golden monkey tracking and volcano hiking on offer, with a fraction of the visitor numbers found elsewhere in the region.
