Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Almost half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas live within Bwindi National Park, and for most visitors to Uganda, that fact alone makes it the whole reason for the trip. Tracking a habituated family through the dense, tangled forest that gives the park its Impenetrable name is genuinely hard work, sometimes hours of climbing through undergrowth, before the moment you find them. That first sighting, a few metres from a silverback going about his day, tends to stay with people for years.
