Ruaha National Park
Almost fifty per cent bigger than the Serengeti, Ruaha National Park is Tanzania’s largest protected area, yet it receives only a fraction of the visitor numbers. The landscape is drier and more rugged than the northern parks, all baobabs and rocky outcrops along the Great Ruaha River, and the wildlife responds to that: large prides of lion, sizeable elephant herds and some of the best predator sightings in the country. It suits travellers who have done a first safari and want somewhere quieter for a second.
