Tswalu Tarkuni

Kalahari

Tswalu Kalahari is driven by two ambitions; to create a unique and inspirational experience for its guests, and a conservation vision to “restore the Kalahari to itself”. Tswalu is owned by the Oppenheimer family and between The Motse and Tarkuni can sleep a maximum of 30 guests at any one time. The Motse can accommodate up to 18 adults in nine individual suites however three of the nine suites have been designed specifically for families and have two separate bedrooms, each with their own en-suite bathroom. This decadent lodge also has a library, impressive wine cellar and a fully equipped gym and spa.

Tarkuni on the other hand is the perfect getaway for smaller groups sleeping just a maximum of 10 guests. Tarkuni is the Oppenheimer family’s own personal retreat at Tswalu and is as lavishly decorated as you should expect from the owner’s of De Beers and the largest private game reserve in South Africa. Spanning more than 100,000 hectares, Tswalu Kalahari is South Africa’s largest private game reserve. This malaria free reserve is home to over 70 mammal species and 230 species of bird; including South Africa’s most rare and extraordinary wildlife such as the desert black rhino and black-maned Kalahari lions.Tswalu welcomes children of all ages and actively encourages children to participate in the safari experience unlike many other lodges. Experiencing the habituated meerkat colony is a particular favourite for guests of all ages – it is a truly memorable experience.During your stay at Tswalu you can also make use of the Malori Sleep-Out Deck and have a night under the diamond sky without compromising on luxury.
