Central Highlands
The Central Highlands run through the heart of Namibia, starting just north of the capital, Windhoek, and forming the first or last stop on many itineraries through the country. Open plains give way to jagged mountain ranges here, scenery dramatic enough to hold its own against anywhere else in Namibia. What draws people back, though, are the private nature reserves scattered across the region, home to some of Namibia’s most active conservation projects. It rewards travellers happy to slow down and look closely.
