Okavango Delta

The Okavango Delta is Botswana’s best-known wilderness, and deservedly so. Rather than reaching the sea, the Okavango River fans out across the Kalahari into a maze of channels, lagoons and islands that shift with the seasons. Glide through by mokoro at first light and the pace slows right down; head out by day and the game viewing, including lion, elephant and wild dog, is some of the best in Africa. Few places blend stillness and drama quite so well.
