Central Kalahari Game Reserve
The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is one of the largest protected areas in Africa, covering more than 52,000 square kilometres of semi-arid grassland and fossil river valleys. Its size and remoteness bring genuine solitude, with game drives that can run for hours without passing another vehicle, tracking lion, cheetah and the black-maned Kalahari lion that has made the reserve’s reputation. San Bushmen communities still call the area home, and a guided walk with them adds a dimension few other African safaris can match. Few places reward slow, patient game viewing quite like this.
