Having grown up in South Africa, visiting the region’s wild places was a staple of my upbringing. This left a lasting passion for Africa’s wildlife and natural beauty that translated itself into a fulfilling career in travel, arranging safari trips to Africa’s remote and exotic places. I started out as a junior consultant but gradually worked my way up to intermediate and senior levels as my interest and passion for the travel industry grew, and have since worked for some of the world’s top safari operators. Working in travel has allowed me to visit some of the amazing destinations which are now my areas of expertise, including visits to Kenya, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda Rwanda, as well as extensive travels across my home country, South Africa. My favourite part of the job is seeing how people react after they’ve experienced a safari, especially for the first time. The term “life changing” gets thrown around too often these days, but being up close with Africa’s iconic wildlife genuinely has that effect on people, and creating those experiences gets me out of bed in the morning!
Aside from the obvious perk of travelling to the wonderful destinations we sell, it is talking to people about travel, and sharing my passion for Africa’s places, people and wildlife with other intrepid travellers.
My ideal holiday is one that includes elements of nature and exploration. I love going off the beaten track and would prefer to uncover something interesting, quirky and adored by locals, rather than popular tourist attractions.I also love to be active and the more hiking or walking, the better. With a love for nature and all things outdoors, I prefer to travel to national parks, rural places, areas of natural beauty and wildlife hotspots.That being said, I am quite partial to an interesting city break with a healthy dose of good food and good wine!
