Lose yourself in the sprawling gardens of the Imperial Palace, still home to the Emperor of Japan. Filled with ancient shrines, ponds, sculptures, bridges and woodland, it’s a picturesque and tranquil escape, despite being encircled by Japan’s bustling city streets. The gardens were once home to Edo Castle, home of Tokugawa Shogun for over 250 years, and you can still discover its ruins as you wander through the gardens.
